“A friend
dragged me to my first beginning yoga class seven months ago. I
had been through the most difficult year of my life. My husband
had been out of work for eleven months. I had spent the previous
10 months caring for my father who had just succumbed to cancer.
I was over weight, out of shape, physically and emotionally
depleted. Upon meeting Annette at that first class, I
immediately noticed an aura of serenity and warmth radiating
from her face. She literally looked like she was glowing. My
first thought was if yoga can make someone look like that I'm
willing to give it a try. In the past several months Annette has
helped me better understand the connection of mind, body and
soul. I have a better understanding of how my body functions and
what it needs to be healthy. I am improving my balance and
flexibility, toning my body and losing weight. My blood pressure
is normal after years of being borderline high. I now maintain
healthy cholesterol levels having significantly lowered my

“When I first
started taking yoga classes almost a year ago, I hoped the
practice would benefit me physically, emotionally, and mentally.
While it definitely has done this, I have also realized that
these rewards may not have come so easy, had I not had the
privilege of having such a great teacher like Annette Doody.
There are many things I could commend Annette's teaching for,
but I'll try to focus on just a few of those which have been
most important to me. One of the first things I noticed that I
really enjoyed about Annette's classes is the vinyasa flow of
her instruction. Annette's directions are clear enough that one
finds it easy to discover the proper alignment for each pose
with careful respect for one's own body. When the pose is over,
Annette leads us smoothly into the next, fully connected and
coherent. I also like the way Annette keeps the class fresh with
new and varying poses, and areas of concentration so that the
classes never become monotonous. Annette however, does have a
basic outline which she retains, and I have always found this
aspect comforting and familiar, like "coming home." Finally,
Annette makes an effort to learn about everyone that comes to
her class, helping each to fine-tune the practice so that it
best benefits each person as an individual. I credit Annette
with teaching me how to use yoga to treat my anxiety disorder,
and I know she has helped others in the same way to deal with
their own ailments. Annette has been an exceptional teacher and
has really inspired me to continue learning and sharing the yoga
way of life”.
